NAWBO Austin 2008-2009 Committees

After surveying Austin business women, we found that there are some clear needs and areas of interest that are not currently served by other organizations.  While many of our members are interested in networking and making valuable connections with one another, we realize that this occurs as we get to know each other, serve a cause together, and band together to make all of our businesses prosper.

Our four current committees are:

Education & Leadership Committee

The Education Committee identifies and promotes professional education programs relevant to chapter members. It coordinates and implements chapter level educational programs including topics such as Business Finance, Funding Your Business, Hiring Revenue Rock Stars and Marketing Therapy.  All topics are collected from Chapter membership and the committee selects topics and speakers for quarterly educational events.

Chair: Cynthia Southerland

Philanthropic Committee

The Philanthropic Committee is responsible for the identification of organizations and causes that the Chapter can sponsor through direct volunteerism or fundraising.  In all cases, the mission is to assist and promote women in our community, though the focus or type of assistance can vary..  The goal of this committee is to ensure that our Chapter uses our business, financial, or collective power to help women in our area who need a mentor, a friend, or a meal.

Chair: Nancy Williamson

Political and Public Policy Committee

The Political and Public Policy Committee educates chapter members on issues that impact their ability to do business at the local, state and federal levels. It helps members explore opportunities to do business with governments and large corporations and links them to resources for certifications. It represents NAWBO with elected and government officials on issues affecting women business owners.

Chair:  Amy Stevens

Investor’s Circle

The Investor’s Circle creates unique programs and opportunities for Chapter members to learn about savvy investing strategies.  From a 21 day Real estate evaluation system, to an evening playing Cash Flow 101, this circle of women is focused on bringing information on wealth creation to our Chapter members.
